Project 1- Modelling of An Architectural Design

In project 1, we are tasked to produce a 3D model of an architectural design using computer software. I have chosen my Design Studio 2 project and this is my model generated using Rhinoceros and renderred in 3Ds max.

Work in Progress

1. Insert scanned plan drawings into AutoCAD and scaled

2. Plan tracing in AutoCAD

3. Imported to Rhinoceros 3D to start modelling

4. On snap control is on. The most used snap are end, point, mid and intersect.

5. Extrude 2D surfaces into 3D solid. Dimension is typed out on command.

6. Three levels are created separately

7. One of the most used command is Boolean Difference, to create openings, holes, to create angled solid.

8. Angled openings are made using Loft, Cap and Boolean

9. Create staircase using traced plan, extruded and moved.

10. Create multiple guidelines, Copy, Paste and Move railings

11. Copy, Paste and Rotate railings into different direction.

12. Levels are separated into different layers,
then joined together using Move and Onsnap

13. Model completed in Rhinoceros.

14. Contour splines are drawn in CAD.

15. Imported contour CAD file into Rhino to be modelled. Freeze the model.

 16. Modelling contour using Loft, Trim, Join and Boolean.

14. Model is imported into 3Ds max to adjust opacity and diffuse.
